The homeroom up the stairs on the left when you enter I-House!
Many events take place there such as Chocolate Study Break, Karaoke, and RD Talk & Taco!
Shorey House has two printers available to all residents! ๐จ๐
Printing is free but if you print regularly (or in large amounts) please consider Venmo-ing some money to @shorey-house ($3-7 per quarter suggested) so we can keep buying paper and ink for everyone!
Installation Instructions:
Connect to the printer via USB, then:
Windows: Settings > Devices & Printers > Add Printer > Canon / Brother
Mac: Settings/Preferences > Printing > + > Canon / Brother
Linux: you're on your own
Before printing in large amounts, please be considerate of others. We hope to keep this resource available for the foreseeable future, but we won't be able to if it isn't sustainable.
If you have announcements to send house-wide, here's a small tutorial on how to send them to the listhost!
You should leave the "To:" field empty and set "Bcc" to shoreyhouse@lists.uchicago.eduย
Mayur/Natasha will then approve your message (may take a few hours) and it will then be distributed to the house!
As a former or current Shorey House resident, you automatically have an @shoreyhouse.org email address!
Your Shorey Email Address is CNETID@shoreyhouse.org and redirects to your UChicago email address CNETID@uchicago.edu
You'll often need to make forms to send to the house, so here's a quick guide on best practices for Google Forms!
Collect Email Addresses: Verified - This makes it so respondents don't have to enter their email, it's automatically filled.
Restrict to UChicago and its Trusted Organizations: Checked
Limit to 1 response: Checked - Ensures accidental duplicates
If you need to make an Anonymous Form (i.e. for a vote), do the following to ensure anonymity but ensure vote authenticity.
Collect Email Addresses: Do Not Collectย
Restrict to UChicago and its Trusted Organizations: Checked
Limit to 1 response: Checked - Prevents vote manipulation
Gmail: If you would like to use Gmail to check your UChicago email instead of Outlook, check out this article.
Quarantine: If you would like to reduce the number of emails getting stuck on quarantine, change your settings to reduce the severity of the filtering.
To change your meal plan, head to my.uchicago.edu, select Finances > On Campus Meal Change
You can find what the current meal plans are here.
